Docshape Payment Terms

Last updated 26 September 2026

Docshape handles three separate money paths. Do not mix them.

(1) A doctor paying Docshape for a software plan or domain. (2) Global Consult: a patient paying an online video consultation fee through Docshape checkout — Docshape collects and holds that fee, then settles the doctor's share. (3) Clinical-system (in-clinic) appointments paid on the spot to the doctor — Docshape does not collect those.

1. Key points

  • Payments may be card or other methods the Docshape checkout provider supports
  • Card data is processed by the payment provider, not stored as full card numbers on Docshape servers
  • You must use a payment method you are authorised to use, with sufficient funds
  • You are responsible for bank or card fees on your side
  • Internet payments can be intercepted despite encryption; Docshape is not liable for failures outside Docshape's reasonable control, or for you leaving card details visible on your screen

Docshape and the payment provider are not liable for errors, delays, or interruption in payment messages, except where the law says that cannot be excluded.

Docshape may decline a payment without obligation to give a reason (for example fraud review).

Docshape plan changes may be prorated as shown in Docshape billing at the time you switch.

2. Three kinds of money

Docshape has two patient-facing business models plus its own software billing. Treat each path separately.

PaymentWho is paidWho handles refunds
Docshape subscription or domainDocshape via Docshape checkoutDocshape and Docshape's payment provider
Global Consult online video consultation feeDocshape collects and holds the fee at checkout, then sends the doctor's share (minus platform commission)Docshape under the Refund Policy, after doctor Help & Support / operator review
Clinical-system / in-clinic appointment feePaid on the spot to the doctor or clinic (not through Docshape)That practice — Docshape does not collect or refund these

For Global Consult only, Docshape holds the patient's consultation fee after checkout until it settles payout to the doctor (or refunds the patient under the Refund Policy). That is settlement for a prepaid online visit — not a permanent patient wallet for clinical-system counter fees.

3. Global Consult patient checkout

  • The fee shown at checkout is the consultation fee for that online video / second-opinion booking
  • The patient pays Docshape checkout. Docshape holds the funds, then sends the doctor's net share after platform commission
  • After payment confirms, Docshape delivers booking confirmation and meeting access instructions for the scheduled slot
  • Docshape records a payout ledger entry for the doctor (gross fee, platform commission, doctor net)
  • If the visit is refunded under the Refund Policy, Docshape refunds the patient through the original method and marks the ledger so the doctor is not paid for that consult
  • Currency and taxes are as shown at checkout

4. Clinical-system / in-clinic appointments

When a patient books an ordinary clinical-system appointment (desk, walk-in, or on-the-spot visit), any consultation fee is paid directly to the doctor or practice. Docshape does not collect, hold, or settle those fees and does not refund them.
